No house promises bids. What happens is that girls say things like "hope to see you tomorrow," or "I think you'd make a perfect ABC." The poor little PNM hearing that thinks that the girl rushing her is magic and will make it happen. If you look at all the supposed bid promises, they're all like that.

I am sure the girl who you spoke with really wanted you in their house. But it takes more than one member to make a bid happen. Each sorority is limited in the number it can take. They may have wanted you but when all was considered they wanted others more. Be happy where you landed and find your group there. With over 400 members there will be people you like and don't like in each sorority. I am sorry you were disappointed.

A member telling you things like they are glad to see you back or that they hope they'll see you tomorrow or that they think you fit in well is NOT a bid promise. Too many girls confuse graciousness and being made to feel welcome and liked as a bid promise.

NO HOUSE bid promised. Over eager girls misinterpret a genuine "I can't wait to see you tomorrow," or "I want you for my little," with "We promise you'll be here on bid day." No one makes that mistake because it can have bad consequences for the whole house. I see that the first girl responding (who probably wrote the original post too lol) wrote the same thing on G Phis page and got the same responses. She's just another bitter girl that didn't quite make it at Bama.

If you say I hope you're my little you can't say that wasn't a bid promise. That's evil.

"I can't wait to see you tomorrow" IS bid promising. You're telling them they're coming back. "I think you would fit well in this house" is an example of something that's not bid promising. And to be fair there is a very fine line but ya gotta walk it

Panhellenic has pretty strict training about what is and is not bid promising. I guarantee you that all the girls say something that Panhellenic has approved. You girls just want a bid so bad that you interpret it the wrong way.

GPhi bid promised me and 4 other girls in my ro chi explicitly and then cut us all pref round so they will definitely be in trouble for that

You can't be cut after Pref. You can be low enough on a list that you don't get a bid. Sorry.

Sorry. You didn't. I know you want to have an excuse for why you ended up where you did, but it wasn't because of a promised bid. Foshu

I got a "I am so excited to see you and welcome you home tomorrow ". With a hug along with other stuff like " you are exactly what we are looking for " and " we are going to have such a great time". Blah blah
Blah. Listed them first and was genuinely excited then shocked in the stadium. Felt like a bid promise to me.

Gphi, like every other house, explicitly tells our girls not to bid promise so if it really did happen to you I'm sorry. That girl was acting against the rules and if our leadership knows about it I'm sure they are very upset about it too because we have a huge presentation on why it's detrimental to everyone. This goes for any house too, although I do have a feeling some houses encourage it a little

G Phi definitely bid promises. My roommate was bid promised and put them as her first choice but didn't receive a bid from them. So yeah, it happens. And from what I'm reading, a lot more than ppl think!

She wasn't bid promised. The actives are careful about what they say. Your poor roommate was so hopeful that she'd get a bid that she misinterpreted a "hope to see you tomorrow" comment for a promise. That's ok. She's young, but both of you probably should get off this site because it's not good for you.

????? How many houses do you think your daughter dropped because she thought she was bid promised by Chi O? Surely you should have told her that all the girls she met would say something nice and tell her the difference between that and a promise of a bid.

@ mom
That's bs. Your daughter didn't drop other houses she wanted because she thought she was bid promised. Those other houses cut her. PNMs don't cut houses.
