the machine
by: heynot being from alabama, it seems as though "the machine" holds a lot of power around campus in both greek life and student government. can someone explain more in depth what the machine does, who is apart of it, and what is has the power to do?

- Decades ago, a fraternity here was disbanded and some of their members decided to create a sort of secret organization, thus creating the Machine.
- The Machine controlled a lot more decades ago, now they mainly control who the SGA president is.
- People say "this candidate is backed by the Machine" and they mean that a certain person, usually running for a position in SGA or homecoming queen, is the sole person who is supported by the Machine.
- Sororities and fraternities apart of the Machine are expected to vote for said backed candidate... (ex. AGD sisters didn't vote for their own sister because she wasn't backed by the Machine).
- All the NPC sororities are apart of the Machine expect Theta.
- All old row fraternities are apart of the Machine but there's a handful of other fraternities who aren't apart of it.
- The Machine controls campus politics through the people they back. MOST of the time, the Machine backed candidates win and thus can push the Machine's agenda, thus why SGA president is so important to them.
