What does this even mean? At some schools it's close to a miracle to get into a chapter, at other schools you can walk through the door.

Probably which house has the most top chapters nationally. For example XO is very strong in the south, seen here, Ole Miss, etc, along with Tri Delt, but don't do as well out west. PiPhi is really good more west, at Arizona, Colorado, and Washington but bottom at say Tennessee. APhi is also good at western schools (Arizona APhis are famous) and some in the Midwest like Michigan State but not in the south. Theta is very strong in Texas, is great at UGA, Southern California, Washington, but not so good here, Ole Miss etc. KKG is good here, very strong in Texas, UGA, UArk, in Oklahoma, and at USC/UCLA, but not good at Auburn to name a few for all houses

Honestly if we're talking nationwide, probably APhi and KKG. Then DDD and Pi Phi. Alpha Phi basically owns the northeast, midwest, and west coast. Pi Phi is popular in Texas and anywhere west of it. KKG is popular pretty much anywhere. I'm not sure why some people here insist that Kappa is a really strong sorority at SEC schools though. They are much stronger in other conferences and regions.

Sororities that have the strongest/best nationals:

- Alpha Delta Pi
- Chi Omega
- Delta Gamma
- Kappa Alpha Theta
- Kappa Kappa Gamme

Taking all schools with decent sized greek life into account the national tiers would probably look something like

Top
XO/APhi/KKG/DDD/Pi Phi

Lower Top
DG/Theta

Upper Mid
KD/ADPi/ZTA

Middle
AXO/GPhi/SK

Lower Mid
DZ/AGD/Phi Mu

Upper Bottom
AOPi/SSS/AZD

Bottom
DPhiE/AEPhi/SDT

You are actually high. I'm not even a fan of alpha phi here but being from Ohio, I can tell you they are HUGE outside of the south. I'd actually say that they are the single most popular sorority outside of the Deep South. KKG being a close second. They are top in every northeast state, Midwest state, and west state. I'm pretty sure they also have good chapters in places like Virginia.

It's funny how some of you girls think that your top tier criteria should be everyone's top tier criteria though. APhi, XO, DDD, DG, KKG, and Pi Phi have the highest number of top tier chapters BY FAR. I think this rank was spot on.

APhi and Pi Phi are exactly where they should be. APhi, KKG, and Pi Phi definitely have the most top tier chapters in the nation. XO and DDD are definitely up there with them too.

I'm from VA and it really, really varies by school but generally speaking Kappa, Theta, DDD, and KD are strong at the bigger schools.

By: VA
by: Yea

Also from VA. DDD, DG, and APhi are consistently good at UVA and VT. KKG and Theta are good at UVA but not VT, KD is good at VT but not at UVA. Best overall in VA is probably DDD.

APhi's alpha chapter, Syracuse, is mid-high. KKG, DDD and DG are all ranked higher, which is strange considering they are loved nationally but still not top tier at their alpha chapter

By: Cuse
by: @Cuse

I'm from NY and APhi is definitely top at Cuse, my sister goes there and is a DDD. They aren't top top but they're top 4. Greek rank may not reflect that, but its kind of like people here all the sudden saying KKG isn't top tier. They are top tier. So dumb.

Alpha chapters for sororities are kind of irrelevant anyway because ranks change (especially since 1872 when APhi was founded!) or the school is too small to matter. KKG and Pi Phi have alpha chapters at Monmouth College where there's literally 3 sororities. AGD and GPhi where also founded at Syracuse, and AGD is bottom and GPhi is middle there. Ranks change! Good for them for not caring about how old sororities are. DDD was founded at Boston U and they are absolute bottom there. Alpha chapters are definitely more relevant for fraternities. Literallly every sorority has stronger chapters than their alpha chapter.

I mean yeah I agree with what you're saying. I'm not saying that APhi isn't top tier necessarily, but they more or less have their own tier. Their 17 pledge class was the smallest out of every sorority, so that does allude to its exclusivity. What I was getting at as far as alpha chapters is concerned was that you'd think with such a high national reputation/presence combined with the other factors that make APhi a higher sorority at Cuse, it would be in the same exact tier as TriDelta, DG and Kappa.

Not necessarily. By that logic DDD should still be top at Boston. Sometimes chapters get put on probation, or even start thinking too highly of themselves and get too "comfortable" (@ KD) and other houses start to push past them because they continue to work harder and change with time. I'm not sure exactly what happened to APhi at Cuse but I wouldn't be surprised if they got too comfortable and thought "we're APhi, we don't even need to try during rush". It's sad that some chapters take this attitude but it happens for a few chapters in almost every sorority at some point.

Theta is top chapter at every ivy. Easy to verify.

By: Ivy rep
by: yep

Theta's also top at many, many big schools all across the country. Very big, popular chapters on the West and East coast, in the midwest and in the south.

There's also like...maybe 3 houses at most Ivy League schools. Theta is big in Texas and Oklahoma, but not as popular as Pi Phi is. They're okay out west. They have a good chapter at UCLA. They're top at a lot of northeast schools (UConn, Cornell, UPenn, UMD) along with APhi and KKG. Midwest is heavily APhi and KKG, some Pi Phi. Theta is good at Illinois and Nebraska.
