what are the old row houses at alabama?
by: obviously gdiI've heard stuff before about certain fraternities and sororities being old row but I hear different things every time. Can anybody clarify which houses are "old row"?

Why is xo the worst? I thought they were awesome in rush... now I think they are competitive and mean. Not every one of them ... just the mentality.
Why does everyone hate on phi mu? What do they even do to deserve that?
What's the deal with kappa and kd? What has happened to these top sororities ? Kds grades are poor and they seem so snobby overall. What could they possibly be snobby about?
Kappa is more laid back but has so many girls with bad reputations. Why kappa?
So my question is: do these girls care at all what alumni think or the great reputations their chapters have long had? They don't seem to care at all. One day we will all be alumni and I bet we will care what kind of girls our chapter takes.

Hey young uns - old row and new row originally described the LOCATION of fraternities when several were moved off University to Jefferson Avenue. Old Row/New Row had to do with where the fraternities were located now how long they were on campus. Some time - like maybe the 1990s sororities started this old row nonsense. I believe it meant this group of fraternities and sororities paid for a sponsorship to have a big party together and buy tshirts. Sororities were not "old row" 50 years ago. None of them. "First Circle" was Alpha Gam, Tri Delt and KD. Don't get hung up on the old row/new row label. It really does not matter.
