low numbers at ifc rush this year

I've been trying to figure why so few guys showed up this year relative to the past couple of years. Many houses were hurt by this. Anyone have any plausible explanations?

Less time for smokers

I think it's about why there were so many less guys at rush in general- less than 550 this year vs 900+ during the last few years

Less time for academics while pledging
A sea of bad press in the past couple of years re the frat life--- Rilling Stone article, Huffington Post, NY Times, etc.
And within our own campus: SAE death from hazing, and now PSI U possible assault.
That being said, I joined a frat.
