probation and rushing

Can you still rush for sororities if you are put on academic probation(gpa<2.0)? Will it affect your chances?

You can't. There's a gpa minimum.

There technically isn't one for sororities(frats are 2.25), but it would probably affect your chances

If your GPA is below at 2.0 you have bigger things to worry about than whether or not you can rush. I would seriously consider whether or not joining a sorority (which can be a major time commitment) is a good decision if you're having so much trouble academically.
