"core four"?

rn the "top" houses are dg and theta, basically because of dg's old rep and money and because theta has gotten some chill pretty girls over the past 2/3 years. the whole "core four" thing hasn't existed for very long and it definitely isn't a thing anymore.
quit worrying about rankings and just get a feel for each house during rush, lil pnm. it's unnecessary stress & you want to end up where you fit, not where is "ranked" best by strangers on the internet.

There will probably be a core four for many years to come, unless one of them gets kicked off. Even though kappa's looks have fallen, they still get really cool/chill girls that guys enjoy hanging out with. None of those four houses have consistently done well… they've all had their off years. The relationships PNMs have to those houses (whether it be through sisters, moms, friends, etc.) typically keep up their reputations.

please - kappa's looks are not the only reason they fell. It's their entitled attitudes. Their rep amongst other greeks - across the tiers - is really bad as it stands.

The only thing I would say is that you would be surprised as to how many frats do still sometimes use the term core fore and also, More importantly, as to how many times there will be a mixer between two frats that includes dg, theta, alpha phi, and kappa. That's why I would be hesitant to say it doesn't totally exist because a lot of top tier frats still mix with kappa and mix with them with other members of the so-called "core four".
But! I would say that this years rush will be very important in determining whether it really continues to be a thing or not

Only thing keeping some of top sororitys AND frats on top are old reps and fear of pnms that if they don't join a "top" house, they'll be viewed as lame. Then, you get a bunch of truly lame ppl unhappy in their houses, wasting their time putting others down on this site! Please pnms...just care about the people you meet, and where you feel comfortable. If people ignore reps, this year's rush could change things a lot! You'll still have ppl who care only about status, let them hang out with their other insecure friends:)

honestly i went through rush, final rounded at theta, and did not pick it!!! everyone has a different house for them and theta is chill but they don't do anythign and most of them deacivate by senior year
