advice for sorority pnms
by: Truth
Here's a little advice for all of you going through rush this year, informal or formal:
I went through formal recruitment last year and the bid I got was not from the sorority I wanted, a sorority I wanted for all the wrong reasons. But I joined anyway, and stuck with it- and I'm so happy I did. People on here will tell you all the stereotypes and every detailed description possible about ranking, but they can't tell you what it'll be like for you.
If you join a sorority simply based on what it says here on this site, or the ranking, you are making the biggest mistake of your life. Stereotypes are just that, stereotypes. You're in charge of your reputation. Remember, these will be the girls you'll spend the rest of these four years with so you should probably like them (and considering greek life is not exactly free). Sure, it's definitely possible to have plenty of friends outside of your house, but for many of you, this will very likely be the main "source" of your friends. You need to find girls that you can not only see hanging out with or partying with, but girls who you can see being there or helping you through all your problems. Otherwise, it can get pretty lonely here at Cornell.
So wherever you decide to end up, do it for the right reasons. It could honestly be the best four years of your life or the worst.
