money/status during rush
by: PnmI'm rushing in January. I'm not too keen on houses judging on wealth (I'm not poor but I don't think this should be a relevant factor in choosing a sisterhood). How do houses find out about your financial status? Is it more than just checking labels on the coats we wear? Do they actually cut girls if they think they're not wealthy?

Mostly how you're dressed, information they learn from your conversation, what high school you went to, what city you're from etc. It's not really about wealth, it's more about how you fit into the house's personality, which is somewhat correlated with your wealth (see: dg)

Yes, they do.
A bunch of my family went to a prominent prep school in the northeast. Not saying names, but it's one everyone would recognize. My first day at rush, DG creepily questioned me/knew it all. They had done a background check/went to school with my family.
I ranked them almost last after that. Yet I got called back. And again. Until final round when I shook them. And then I reported them to panhel.
My other friend is really wealthy but not a sorority girl. Got cut from every house EXCEPT DG and AZD. Obviously she didn't join.
But if you get cut bc of your money... Would you have wanted to be there anyway?

Really we don't have time to judge brands of jackets and such and nor do we care. It is really about figuring out your personality and if we click. So be yourself, share something about yourself that will make someone remember you, and everything will fall into place. My sister kept reassuring me that is all works out in the end, and it really does. Tip- final round talk to the other girls in line, those could be your pledge class.
