frat rankings (with pc 14' considered)
by: GreekGirlxoxo
Okay so I've seen a lot of rankings floating around and while some aspects are correct, I haven't seen a ranking that I truly think is indicative of the current Greek system. Keep in mind, I may have some bias since I have been around/ I am friends with more brothers in some of the houses, but for the most part, my friends and I agree with this list. I'm a junior in a "Core 4" sorority and I TRULY believe I fit in here, not just cause the status, and I have made life-long friends and gained so much. There are way more fraternities than sororities, and the rush systems for both are vastly different, that is why I think it is more important and harder for guys to find the best fit! Listen up boys!
Top
Sig Phi (killed rush the past two years, good looking and charming boys)
Sig Chi (PC 14' is fun to party with, they go hard - "fratty")
Psi U (weak PC 14' but still so handsome and wealthy)
Chi Psi (undoubtably still a top house, but since this is a list for prospective rushes, it is important to know that they are kicked off campus and on the downhill - fratty, closest frat to state-school mentality)
Upper
Sig Pi (PC 14' is pretty cool from what I've seen, diverse house, a watered-down Sig Chi in terms of how "fratty" they are but make up for it overall)
Delta Chi (killed rush last year, great PC 14', seems like they are moving slightly away from the 'sophisticated' look and took more guys who like to party hard)

DU (mixed opinions… took a great PC 14’ and have a very tight brotherhood, but they seem to only take a certain mold)
Alpha Delt (PC 14’ seems to be moving away from the snobby, elitist attitude and are a still wealthy, but like to frat out, genuinely cool guys in the new PC… shoutout to Jarro!)
Upper Middle
Phi Psi (a house that is constantly changing but definitely knows how to have fun, not necessarily the best looking or coolest, but they have a great brotherhood that doesn’t get caught up in all the Greek drama and just has fun)
Chi Phi (haven’t gotten to meet much of PC 14’ but have heard great things, seems like they got a diverse class and the house seems to have become more active on the social scene – many sprint and rugby players, generally athletic kids)
Lambda Chi (PC 13’ was great, love those guys – PC 14’ is good but not as fun and smooth, but the house is definitely on the rise and they have a great brotherhood)
Sig Nu (don’t really know the house but my friends said they used to be a lot of fun, needed brothers and took a odd pledge class – some are cool but they just don’t seem to fit the house)
Past this… to be honest, I just don’t know enough to judge. I was around Sammy and Sig Ep a bit my freshman year and they definitely have some sweet, cool guys; I don’t know how they are doing now though.

Sig Phi is filled with charming boys, many of them are responsible and come with great family values, decent brotherhood and love to have fun. Chi Phi, I wouldn't put hem up there yet, I haven't heard much about them or seen much of them, so they're not well known enough to be solidly upper. Sig Nu, you have to see what the next pc brings them, but they are a great group of guys who are always down to have a good time. Lambda Chi, they have a good brotherhood within the house, but haven't heard the best things from their mixers or their open parties; have also heard some of their pc 14 are 'bland' type. The rest is relatively accurate.

ive been at events in houses that throw down even harder than these so called top frats that you guys describe, i can fairly say that i enjoy both worlds, both the pretentious "upper-tiered" and the down to earth rest of greek life that is middle and lower tiered fraternities and can honestly say that whenever i go to sig phi or chi phi or whatever i feel smothered, as if everyone is always faking it

Typically its the more hermetic segment of the CS department represented on here more so than anyone involved in Greek Life, but note that if you are attending crowded open party at a house you are new to, short of making a fairly intensive effort to ask whose who, you aren't going to know which guys are brothers and which are not.
Some of the more visible people might just be loud freshman, others could be from other houses.
We aren't as adversarial in this system as anonymous online postings would have you think.

Thoughts on Chi Phi? They're not included here but I have a generally great impression of the house (welcoming and fun guys, mostly attractive and athletic). They don't really try to be the top tier but I think they belong there based on what I've seen.
