gpa?

by: girl312

Hey, so as a freshman looking to rush i was wondering if sororities really take GPA into account? Cause I'm doing pretty bad this semester with one hard class but know that I can do way better.

No, they don't care. I am an attractive girl who had over a 4.0 when I rushed, and I still didn't get into a top house. It's all about connections and if you seem like you'd fit in. I didn't have any connections and I'm not your typical "sorority girl" (I'm a pretty white girl, but I'm down to earth and into politics and outdoorsy things and not girly things)

broad cuts are made after the first round on many factors. a big one IS GPA. the minimum for greek life is 2.5 but some individual houses have a higher cutoff right off the bat to cut numbers down

It depends on a variety of factors. If you have a "hard" major with a low GPA, you shouldn't worry at all. If you have an "easy" major with a low GPA, that will make the girls question what might be the cause. In general, you should not worry. I had a ridiculously low GPA but made up for it personality wise and didn't get cut anywhere. Also, to the person who said this :"(I'm a pretty white girl, but I'm down to earth and into politics and outdoorsy things and not girly things)". That is the stupidest thing I have heard. If you are pretty, down to earth, into politics or have a particular passion, that makes for a great potential new member. Something else must have gone wrong when you rushed, sorry.

at least in my house nobody even looks at your GPA during rush... i wouldn't worry about it as long as you make the greek-wide cut off
