THE ULTIMATE FRAT RUSH GUIDE FOR FROSH 2023

Biggest thing to consider during rush is where you think you’ll fit in. I’ve seen too many guys rush houses in the 3.5 years I’ve been here solely based on sorority relations/clout and not get a single bid, even when they would’ve been a perfect fit somewhere else. Go where you like the guys, not where you think you’ll get an ego boost. Most of the clouty houses also have most of their pc determined beforehand too, remember that. Also, depending on how easy it is for you to talk to people you’ve never met, you might want to pregame a little bit before you and your buddies start trekking from north campus to hit the open houses in January. Trust me, it makes it a lot easier.

So there are like 30 frats, how do i make my list? You should have 2 reach frats, 2-3 target frats (where you think you can realistically get a bid at, not where you want to be in based off of ranks), and one safety frat. Most of the top frats (think SX, AD, DU, Sigma Phi) have their PC's figured out. Chi Psi, Sigma Pi, DX have majority of their PC's figured out but they will still be open to take some kids during open houses if you're dope (By dope i mean extremely chill or wealthy, there is no in between).

'Relevant' frats where, imo, every cool kid that wasnt dirty rushed has a shot at: ZBT, Chi Phi, Lambda and the C4 mid frats. Yes these frats dirty rush but they lose all their kids to upper houses and have to take most of their class during rush week. ZBT, Lambda and Chi Phi are known to be very picky.

The C4 mids are known to bid for numbers but that doesnt mean theyll bid anyone. You still gotta be a chill/social dude. This also doesnt mean you show face at these houses for 10-15 minutes and then dip. You still gotta express interest. The mids is where most people that rush will end up in and I would def recommend any kid that wasn't dirty rushed to check them out even if you are aiming for 'higher' houses

The lower mids and below will take just about anyone unless you are an absolute weirdo (in which case, you gotta realise you have some serious problems).

If I was rushing this year, I would rush 1 upper house, 1-2 upper mids, 2-3 mid houses, and a lower mid house but thats just my preference. One thing is for sure: do not just rush mids and above, they are known to cut kids until the last day of rush day (i.e you could be invited to every single event and then stop getting invites at the end).
