Pledging Concerns: Should I Be Scared?
by: UmmmI did some reading and I saw people died in 2011 and 2019 from hazing. Are these isolated incidents or are they just scratching the surface for hazing at Cornell? The scorecard and hazing violation websites are filled with reports too, so idk, it seems like there’s a serious problem...

hazing doesn’t play as big of a role in pledging anymore at Cornell. The most frats will make you do is stupid things that make you look like a fool or some light bullying. No one’s going to make you chug a handle of everclear. Heavy drinking is the norm but no frat is going to cut you for saying no, if they do then it’s best you didn’t join them.
Frats that are not known to haze hard are considered ‘soft’ but if you’re really concerned ik Sig pi, DX, Phi Tau, Pike don’t really haze. Can’t say the same for other frats

2011 was a sophomore in SAE, and 2019 was a freshmen at PhiPsi fall dirty rush. These were both freak incidents and most houses have removed almost all of pledging in response. No frat wants to get kicked since literally any infraction could be a minimum 3 years kicked off.

you're not going to die. However, trying to pledge SX/AD/ZBT/DU will make you miserable. Other houses are a step down but if you're soft you need to join a soft house - which is fine. Just don't join a house that's going to be a bad fit. Also, most brothers will be upfront with you about hazing if you ask them.

2 people died in the last decade though, it’s not like we’re talking about stuff from 1900
