Hey! I’m a geed. I like to go on here sometimes because it’s entertaining AF and pretty funny. I also have a bunch of friends in Greek life so it’s nice to keep up to date on all the stuff happening in that arena. No, I’m not jealous of girls in sororitys. For me, being a geed at Cornell is nice because you’re not a stereotype. Good or bad, all sororities are stereotyped and judged (which is unfair to all the girls who are actually really amazing). But it’s freeing to be independent when there’s so much chaos and drama going on. I like not being labeled and I also feel like I’m taken more seriously. It’s also just way too expensive and I am not going to pay for it. As mentioned I have tons of friends in Greek life so it’s really easy to get into parties etc. Don’t stress. Greek life is not for everyone and I really enjoy being A “geed.” There’s a whole world out there outside of Greek life that’s honestly a lot more fun. But I do sometimes wish I had my own date nights and formals! However it’s easy to get invited to them so it doesn’t really matter

honestly same to everything you are saying. I was considering rushing but due to everything that happened this last semester and dues cost, I honestly don't know if I'll go through with it. But, either way greek life isn't for everyone, but it still can be home for a lot of other people lol. How did you meet your current greek life friends and how to get invited to formals and stuff?

Yeah I totally get that! For me the drama and the dues personally were not worth it, but it can still be great for other girls. I’ve met some really great women and men who are in Greek life. I met a lot of people freshman year who I’ve just stayed friends with, but also through clubs and friends of friends. The larger clubs and groups at Cornell are a great way to meet lots of different people. I see it as- it doesn’t really matter if someone is a geed or in Greek life. You have the opportunity to meet really cool people by pursuing your real interests through clubs! People in Greek life join all kinds of other interest groups. Then I’ve just made close connections with some guys in frats who have kindly invited me to formals :)

Just adding on ^ nothing against Greek life- I’m just trying to explain that geeds and people in Greek life still mix a bunch. Like you’re not confined to one group or the other. So I don’t think it actually matters a ton, personally. If u want to rush then do it! But being a geed at Cornell is kind of like the best of both worlds

I'm not only a gdi, but a troll who doesn't even go to Cornell. I go here cause I can pretend that I'm important and I love to try to destroy your houses. Honestly, you make it easy.
