sorority rush as a sophomore transfer
by: RedAny tips for sorority recruitment? Rushing as a sophomore transfer and I don’t know many girls in Greek life. Is it possible to get a bid? Any advice would be appreciated!

Definitely possible to get a bid, but from top sororitys probably harder. I don’t think KKG or Theta took any soph transfers, Aphi took 2, and DG took 4 but they were all connected.
So honestly, top sororitys prob aren’t in the question that much, but middle tier definitely are.

I think you should yeah. I'm also not trying to be rude and I'm not telling you you don't have a chance for a top house I'm just telling you realistically it'll be more difficult.

Yeah midtiers and below are more of a safer bet, but even some midtier houses with transfers last year mainly took girls with connections.

What do you mean by connections? Do you mean they were dirty rushed or that they had a lot of friends in the house already? I don’t really have an interest in the top tier houses. Just hoping for a nice house where I can meet other girls etc

Some girls rushing have been dirty rushed and others know a lot of people in houses going into rush, both of which are really advantageous for top tier houses. but if you're not looking for that, you'll find a great home in other houses.

Thanks- will they know I am transfer? Should I mention it? My roommate told me that sophomores do not get bids and not to get my hopes up

if anything, transferring makes you more unique than freshmen bc you took an unconventional path, which can lead to an interesting conversation during rush. good luck w rush!

Do most girls going through the process actually know girls in the houses? As a transfer, I feel at a disadvantage compared to other sophomores who have had a whole extra year to meet girls. Should I mention that I am a transfer at the parties and events during recruitment?
