why is sorority and frat rush so different?

I'm sorry but I don't understand. My boyfriend rushed. He frolicked around from house to house, drank beer, watched sports games, and if he didn't like a house he could pretty much walk out and leave whenever he wanted.

So why is sorority rush so formal? Why do I have to deal with 2 degree weather where houses tell me that I'm not cool enough to keep my wallet inside their home?

I pretty much knew before rush I'd realistically only fit into 5 houses. I was correct. I ended up in one of those houses. For most of the houses, if I could've, I would've left after 2 minutes because the vibe was weird, I knew I didn't fit in, or some of the sisters just blatantly annoyed me. The whole process of having to go back to houses you just don't like is absolutely miserable.

And then of course my conversations were incredibly restricted. Almost every friend I've made I've made because we started talking about taboo things together so why do I have to act interested in someone's major/hometown for 30 minutes when guys literally are just getting drunk together?

It's so weird and dumb. And then girls have to be sad about getting rejected from houses they didn't even like that much just because they were forced to go there.

also why tf can guys just get a “yes” or “no” straight answer from houses at every round while girls have to use a complex computer ranking system that messes up (panhel will deny this it I have verified accounts of times girls don’t show up on houses lists the next day even when they want them back and know the pnm ranked them high). in addition girls can have to go back to houses until pref round that they know they don’t fit into or else they will be kicked out of rush.
