mc 19 feeling rly conflicted
by: sadgot a bid from a house i’m not too excited about. good ranking and good girls i just feel i really don’t fit in there. don’t get me wrong i’m grateful for a bid and for a house that truly wanted me and i’m planning on giving it time to get to know my class but i really feel like i don’t fit in and fell in love with one house during rush. basically- i want advice as to whether sophomores think it’s better to be in a house for social life or drop and rerush if your heart isn’t in it. is social life hard w/o greek life? and staying close w friends who are in greek life when you aren’t? and am i eligible for cob in the fall if i don’t accept a bid from the house i have? thanks so much

You're gonna be fine either way
I have a friend who didn't rush as a freshman and her social life was just fine. if u are social and have friends, it won't change. my friend and I also stayed quite close despite me being in a sorority and her being independent. Yeah like we spent less time together but we stayed friends and I brought her to stuff as my date.
You will be fine either way. Give it some time and try your best to see if you can find a home there, if not, honestly life is fine without a sorority as long as u aren't a total social recluse (which u probably weren't if u got into a decent sorority) before rush.

Give it time, get to know the girls in ur pc and older ones. I had a very similar experience- I fell in love with a sorority but didn’t end up there. But I gave my house a try and am really glad I did. It’s not always love at first sight, it’s about building bonds and memories. You might be surprised how well you fit in, rush often shows a very narrow image of a house
