I’m a girl not in a sorority just because it isn’t my thing. My social life here is fine and I can always find places to go/ friends to go with BUT it doesn’t even compare to someone’s social life in a sorority. During freshman year my roommate rushed and was expecting “core 4” and got phi sig. at first she complained and was embarrassed by it but eventually she found her group and friends and now she loves it. She doesn’t even care about the ranks anymore or think twice about it and she has a great time, great social life, and great friends who she LOVES. Way better than anything I could get without being in a sorority. I just wanna say for anyone mad about the “lower tier” sororities they got, it’s still gonna give you a social life, friends, and fun times and socially put you at an advantage over someone like me.

Are you kidding? So many girls who aren’t in sororities have great social lives. Not being in a sorority doesn’t put you at a disadvantage for a social life... what are you saying

Not saying girls in sororities can’t have great social lives but not all do and they have to try a lot harder. Being in a sorority instantly gives you a full social schedule every week

I also second that geeds have to try harder to have a social life (like get involved with multiple clubs, actively meet new people in classes, and know a lot of people in greek) But if you join a house, you automatically know all your sisters and the frats you mix with and you have a fixed schedule. For geeds they have to find things themselves. I regret dropping rush so much lol

maybe not so much lol
As a geed I appreciate that I have a lot of free time and freedom. But I 100% agree that you gotta try really hard to have a social life without being in a sorority. It would be easier if you are Hotel/AEM major or athletes bc all your classmates are probably in greek but otherwise meh

Also it depends on what kind of social life you want, and who do you hang out with. I know some engineering project teams, big red band, sports clubs, a capella that are also super close and throw parties. I lived on west campus my sophomore year and my floormates also socialize with each other and go to house events. Some organizations such as APO also have an active social schedule. You have to admit that most of the geeds are on the nerdy and weirdo side. I don't want to sound like a jerk but to be honest, most girls who want to rush sororities are probably not hyped about partying with the type of people I mention above right.

This is stupid. I know a ton of geeds who go out constantly. They have no problem filling up their social schedule and are probably more popular than most sorority girls... given they’re all in hotel, aem, or ilr because those are social majors. My good friend is a senior geed and has gone out more than anyone I know.

I’m a junior geed and honestly have a great social schedule. If you know guys in houses you’re absolutely fine. I go out 3-4 times per week and I love not being labeled by a sorority name. It has worked out perfectly for me honestly.
