pnms don’t give up

Ok so it’s being said that there’s a slew of girls dropping due to the cattiness going on and by the looks of things on here that’s true.
Just a word to PNMs to clear some things up in case you’re on the fence.
1. It’s not always like this, and not all of the houses have been involved. There’s clearly a select few from some houses coming on her and creating a problem. They don’t represent the Greek system and in many ways, they don’t even represent their own houses. They are just attention seekers caught up in competition not realizing how badly they are making us look.
2. Once you get into a house, you will see s totally different side of things tha rush. We know you feel judged, it’s not the best system. But we want you and we will bring you in and support you once this is all over. You are our legacy.
3. If you want to really stick it to the petty people- nothing would do that more than joining a house full of real down to earth girls and becoming the change you want to see. Join panhel, contribute to rush- become s leader in your house and make the atmosphere better for the next rush class. Only YOU can tell what house you feel is down to earth and right for you. There is no silly list that can do it. The lists mean nothing because they are doctored by biased opinions.
4. The Continuous Open Bidding option may show you a completely different side of things. Getting to know houses in a very relaxed environment, meeting for extended interviews with sisters- might be a way to help you if you’ve already quit rush. Maybe you’re not someone who can make fast decisions based on little info. COB might be for you.
5. If you take away all of the online nonsense, it’s easier to judge where you might be happy. Chances are- there’s more than one place you would fit in. Keep an open mind. Really listen and ask what you need to hear.
Remember - every house needs you as much as you need us. There is NO house than survive without members.
Look for the sisters enjoying each others company. Look online at their social media pages, look at the things they choose to do together when they aren’t rushing. A better picture will emerge.
We owe you better than what’s been displayed on here.
But that does not represent the majority of us.

We have a weird issue this year online- for all we know it’s not even the houses doing some of it! Nobody knows what’s perpetuating this crap on here!
Stay with it, you’ll be happy you did.

Can I add— you may be shocked by houses that dropped you and feel you can’t get past it. Please try. We cannot take everyone, and it’s somewhat of a crapshoot sometimes. We don’t have time to get to know all of you. There are other GREAT groups to join!
That being said- there are great houses you’re missing out on if you quit because your ego is bruised. At least go look and see what they all have to offer!!!!

And sometimes a pnm doesn’t click with the houses they have left or they didn’t click with any house at all. It’s okay for people to drop if they can’t put their heart into the houses they’re rushing. They’re being true to themselves and not taking the spot of a girl who may want to be in the house that they can’t see themselves in.

The thing is- right now a lot of you may be thinking you didn’t click with anyone who invited you back - but obviously you mage an impression because you got invited back when others didn’t.
Go back and see if there’s something you missed.
They saw something in you. I think as rounds keep going you will see more and more of why these houses are special.

What you’re saying doesn’t take into account that girls join houses and either drop before initiation or deactivate after a year. Wouldn’t it be better for pnms to drop if they really haven’t felt a connection after 3 rounds, rather than stay and end up unhappy in a house that their gut told them they couldn’t be happen in. And this goes for all tiers of houses, as girls can deactivate from any of the 13 on campus. If doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out.

Yes I understand what you’re saying.
I did not take that into account.
There’s nothing wrong with someone who realizes early on this isn’t for them.
I’m trying to reach the ones who really wanted to be in Greek life but dropped because they weren’t chosen by the houses they wanted without reconsidering others.
But you made a god point as well.

the sororitys intermix. all chapters have a tight sisterhood. all have dank houses. all have a full social schedule. all have smart, attractive, powerful women.

Seriously? Not everyone drops because they didn’t get core four....why does everyone have this idea?! A lot of girls, especially this rush, fell in love with houses like tridelt, pi phi, sdt, kd, and other “non-c4 houses.” But a lot of girls drop because houses they fell in love with, in whatever tier, drop them round and round and for an 18-year old kid, rejection is still really painful. Maybe instead of giving advice while bashing pnms and girls who dropped, we can give advice while being nicer and more understanding.

And you’re right, we should be giving advice. Not bashing PNMs.
The honest truth is in a lot of houses there are girls who were disappointed that they got cut from another. But then they went in and tried anyway and realized that they are in a great fit for them.
Once you’re on the other side, you’ll see it’s a completely different side. One where you realize it was never rejection but a system in which people have to be shuffled around with limited interactions. Sometimes we expect to see someone the next day and find out they were cut from our own house and we have no idea how it happened.
The great thing about rush - and what I think so many girls are fighting on here for you to see- is that there are great houses that get overlooked where you could be incredibly happy and make your lifetime friends.
I honestly believed I was going to another house. I was stunned to silence when I got my bid. I cried. I felt rejected. And then I said- you know what, other gurls are crying that they didn’t get one into the one I just got. I’m going to go see what this has to offer me.
I let my pledge class. I told myself if I hated it, I’d drop out.
I’ve never had a better night in my life than my bid night.
I stayed a little longer. I got a big, I was part of a lfamily. I started having a booked social calendar - the kind I wished I had large semester before. I began making friends- who now I can’t imagine my life without. They will be in my wedding one day.
I don’t even think about the other house or how I could have been there. I just realize I’m so glad they sent me where I am.
Some stories end up like mine and some don’t. But you have to TRY and see for yourself. The worst thing that’s going to happen is you end up in a house that really wants you! The rest is up to you.

I posted that comment and I’m a pnm who has seen my friends drop and they genuinely liked those houses but they got cut round after round. It’s not self-elevating, it’s just the truth.

^ I think the person above is confused and assumed you were from those houses who constantly group themselves in s certain arena.
Listen, lots of houses cut lots of girls. It makes everyone want them more... because it gives them an air of exclusivity.
Finish the process and go to the houses you were invited back to- with an open mind and trust me, you’ll be glad you did.
