sorority money question

Hey everyone. Genuine question- I am just wondering why in a lot of these posts, there is a lot of focus on money, like “dg is the wealthiest, ____ is rich, etc”. Like I don’t understand why there is a focus on money or why it matters if the girl rushing is rich. Do you have to be rich to pay for certain things or something? Or the girls just want rich friends? Genuinely confused!!

Honestly that's just part of the shallowness behind the hierarchies here. Just like some sororitys value your appearance, they also value wealth. Especially the ones that go on expensive group spring break trips

It is unfortunately like this at every top/elite college (most of my high school friends also attend elite colleges). The majority of students at elite universities come from preparatory-schools or wealthy towns (Westchester/LongIsland), so considering wealth in social hierarchy is rather common.
