dirty rush

by: freshman

How important is dirty rush to getting a bid at an upper or upper-mid frat? I did some dirty rush events at a couple of these houses but didn't get invited to any of the Thanksgiving dinners. I am cut from those houses or not yet?

Can be helpful for getting you on their radar, but really dirty rush is used to cut people ahead of rush. A lot of these houses have 200 - 400 rushes walk through their smokers, and so dirty rush is a great way to cut 50+ kids right off the bat. In conclusion, dirty rush can at best keep you in the running, and at worst completely ruin your chances at a certain house. It's only in lower middle and below frats where dirty rushing can line you up for an early bid since the competition is much easier.

Only elite houses solidify their pcs before rush. So, if it's not sig chi or sig phi, dirty rush isn't essential at all. In fact, I know kids that got bids at sig pi and phi psi having shown up to only the last day of smokers. If you vibe with the brotherhood, it doesn't what events you went to (within reason)

just to add on to guy above me. You're not necessarily cut from those houses. Some houses only give the thanksgiving dinner invites to their top rushes, some houses don't give any invites to freshman (although i'm pretty sure all the upper and upper-middle houses do invite freshman), or they may have just forgotten to give you an invite.

It also depends from case to case. For example, were you invited to the dirty rush event or did one of your friends bring you? Good luck in rush.
