cornell sorority rush gpa

by: freshman

My GPA is pretty low (around 2.15) - will I get cut automatically from all of the good sororities right away or is GPA just one factor houses consider? I don't want to go through rush if I am just going to be automatically cut....

Houses with known to have a high gpa will heavily look at your gpa but most houses don't care

i don't personally know of any sorority that cuts based on gpa. a high gpa MAY help you, but a low gpa will almost never hurt you. if you vibe well with a house and they want you then they'll take you. it's all about finding the place you feel the most comfortable—don't let little things like gpa shake your confidence, I promise it doesn't matter.

tbh I don’t want to scare you, but sororities will look at GPA. They don’t want girls who are going to fall below a certain cutoff point and have to drop due to their grades. For many houses the cutoff is a 2.5, so if you’re already below that that could significantly hinder your chances.

I went through rush last year. The comment above is correct and you may be cut from most houses early on.

Maybe with a gpa that low you should study more and not rush. Rushing and being in a sorority takes up a lot of time. Just a thought

Do u go to Cornell? Rush is before classes start so it does not interfere with studies....

Nahh dog it depends on the person, my highest GPA semester was the one that I rushed. Don't sacrifice ur grades tho for anything, it's already gonna be harder to rush w that but also you can't really party if you're not here anymore.

Don’t lie to her. After the official rush days there is a lot of other events and socializing so rushing does interfere with studies. And then being in a sorority takes a lot of time, some optional and some mandatory. So if your grades aren’t good, keep in mind that being in a sorority takes a lot of time.
