vent

Some chick was ranting about how much worse being in a strat was than a frat at Cornell, and I just want to vent.
sorority life is much easier than fraternity life. Like literally everything about it.
In terms of rush: girls make it out like getting into the core 4 is impossible. They take about 170-180 pnm’s every year between the 4. It’s the equivalent number of pledges getting into the top 10 frats. Getting into PiPhi/SDT/DDD is the equivalence if getting into the middle tier and lower middle frats (Phi tau, Phi Sig, Pi Kapp, Sammy).
Mixing Schedule: Core 4 gets to mix with whoever they want basically whenever they want. Middle 3 sororities get to mix with all of the top 10 frats. If you are in any of the other strats except phi mu you get to mix with mid tier frats consistently and occasionally upper mid frats.
As a guy, if you are in a mid tier you get stuck mixing with low tier sororities and bending over backwards for a mixer with the mid tier sororities. If you are in a lower middle house, welcome to one mixer a week. If you are stuck in bottom of the top 10 (Chi Phi, DX, Fiji, Chi Psi), you get to mix with mid-tier sororities, occasional low tier sororities, and rarely get core 4 mixers [mostly at 8 ways] (I guess chi psi lets their house get wrecked for a couple more core 4 mixers than the rest of the group). There are only 6 frats [Sig Chi, Sig Phi, AD, DU, Phi Psi, Sig Pi (~120 pnm’s for number reference) on campus that have the mixing schedule of a mid tier strat or better (315 pnm’s). As a guy you are basically screwed when it comes to mixing.
Other:
-at a frat you have to pledge
-as a girl all of your partying is free and simple. Frats provide all the alc, provide the venue, and provide rides.
-frat houses are run down and disgusting
Is there something about being in a Cornell sorority that I’m missing here??
Signed,
- a mid tier guy

I made the post you’re referring to.
1) I never said BEING in a sorority was harder I said the rush process was more annoying.
2)Your ranking of sororities and what a desirable one is is wrong.
3) Not every girl gets a bid. A significant amount of girls don’t. I know a girl that had Alpha Phi and AZD in her preference round that was dropped by both.
4) Your perception of who mixes with who is just wrong
