odds of getting a bid at a top frat
by: 90212If you're an average guy who didn't attend a fancy prep school, and coming in as a transfer, what are the odds that you'll get a bid at a top frat?

It can definitely happen. I know of one transfer who rush sig chi and got a bid who went to a regular school in CA. As long as you try to make friends with girls who can introduce you to brothers in top frats and try to attend annex parties at top frats early on to know the brothers, you have a solid chance. Just make sure to be pretty chill, fun, and not be a try-hard. No one likes those.

Well during o-week try and make friends with ppl who can get you into parties at the annexes of frats you wanna rush. also try and make contact with people who u know or are from ur area before fall because chances are, they probably know someone or know someone who knows someone.

I wont know anyone when I get up there... How do I make Cornell friends before coming on campus? I'm from a pretty small part of Chicago where no one goes to Cornell (this isn't New Trier)

If you rush in the fall, the only frat in the top 10 that takes a fall PC consistently is DU. Some of the others are registered for fall rush but don’t usually take a PC.
If you rush in the spring, your odds are slightly below average due to being a sophomore and not coming from a fancy school.. Sig Chi usually takes quite a few sophomores in their spring PC, not sure about others. If you try to rush a good house without knowing anybody your odds are pretty slim.

Stop worrying about greekrank and go meet with guys in each house at their annex and see where you fit in...if you don't fit with their vibe you probably won't get a bid or fit in even if you do
