what makes each "core 4" relevant
by: prefroshpre-freshman guy here. I've got a good group of buddies from high school (private prep school) in a fraternity and will most likely rush there. they've mentioned mixing primarily with "core four" sororities (mostly dg, theta, and kappa) and I'm curious as to what makes each one relevant. are the girls hotter or are they just stereotypes? answers from both frat guys and sorority girls welcome

dg has mostly rich/jappy girls, theta is "hipster" and has a wider variety of girls, kappa is rich and fun to party with, and alpha phi has the most stereotypically girly and blonde sorority girls
the girls in these houses are generally hotter than in mid and lower tier houses but a lot of them are also just wealthy and well-connected

The girls is the core 4 are generally more attractive and tend to be rich. Not a huge drop off in looks when you drop down to the mid tier sororities (Pi Phi/Tri-delt/SDT) but not as many “stunners”. Lower tier sororities have few attractive girls but they do exist.
Guys care about the core 4 because of status, looks, and recruitment. Guys want to brag to their friends. If a frat can consistently have mixers (4+ C4 mixers per semester) with a core 4 strat or combo of core 4 strats, they basically get grouped into the upper tier which makes recruitment very easy. If you take a look around this website, every frat at the low end of the upper tier and top of middle tier constantly smear each other (Chi Phi/DX/Fiji/Chi Psi) trying to gain social status.

Basically the core four: rich, sociable, usually pretty
The upper middle (the next 3 sororitys): 2/3 of the above factors (i.e. fun and decent looking but only upper middle class, wealthy and sociable but not pretty etc.)
The rest: 1/3 or 0/3 if those factors depending on the rank
There are of course exceptions of people who slipped through the cracks (on both ends) but this is the general trend

Look at the posts on their pages
DG: “Probably the meanest girls on campus. all they care about is their status and flaunt how much money they have. ”
Theta: “Rich girls who pretend to be hipster and care about the environment and women's rights but are just stuck-up and want attention”
Kappa: “Rude, loud, obsessed with status and wealth”
Alpha phi: “some girls in alpha phi generally scare me. some of the most unstable personalities at cornell” and “really shallow girls that are not fun to hang out with”

Tbh, the core 4 is different than state schools. They're only "top" because very few actual top tier girls go to this school. Think about it. A sorority is 3-4x bigger than a typical frat meaning the 4th best sorority has people as cool/attractive as the 12th-16th best frat. Theres a huge range of people in these sororities but very few top tier. Honestly hook up with them until you graduate and work in NYC and then get a girl that's actually attractive

The core 4 girls tend to be rich, which does not translate into being more attractive. There are attractive girls in all the houses and there are not so attractive girls in all the houses.
