i got dropped by every house
by: PNMI got dropped by every sorority and I'm beyond disappointed. Is there any chance that they'll do COB or give snap bids after recruitment? If so does anyone know which chapters usually do this?

The way the system is done, it is really easy for people to slip through the cracks, which is probably what happened to you. Half the time the sorority votes on someone only a few people have actually spoken to, which isn't enough to get to know you. Don't take it personally, because you are worth so much more than a sorority. I know some amazing talented gorgeous funny girls who got cut all because the they didn't know the right people or they slipped through the cracks. A few sororities do give out snap bids. Last year KD, Phi Mu, and AZD gave out snap bids - it's especially helpful if you can speak to anyone in those sororities about getting a snap bid. If you're a girl, being in a sorority shouldn't matter much anyway, because you can get into most parties and you (obviously) don't need a sorority to make friends...

I'm sorry to hear you were cut but don't worry! Cornell is a great school where Greek life isn't everything (compare to some southern school, you know?) I know girls from core four houses that say they sometimes wish they didn't rush just so they could have met more people from outside the Greek system. To be honest, the whole system is flawed and dated—it works wonders for some and not for others, which is fine but definitely tough. You are clearly a smart, unique and ambitious girl so keep doing your thing and try taking advantage of your independant status— you're a free agent! You will make plenty of friends who are in the system and plenty who aren't. Side note: if you find yourself feeling down, try and find a club or new activity you can devote your time too. Hope you feel better and make sure to treat yourself today :) You deserve it!
