sorority question

i have seen lots of comments/posts talking about how sororities take into account your wealth when you are going through rush... first of all, how do they even know how much you are worth?
and how big of a factor is your wealth? like if you have a good personality, looks, clothing, etc. do you still have a chance of a bid?
