fall sorority informal rush?

by:

So I was a freshman this past year and went through rush, but ended up with two choices that I just didn't feel like I could see myself in, the day before bids. I quit rush before bids in order to be able to do informal fall rush (as I didn't want to just accept a bid just to "be in a sorority" when they didn't feel right to me).

If anyone's gone through it or knows anything about it, what is informal rush in the fall like? How hard is it to get a bid, and how much of that is based on who you know? I know they had a lot of girls rushing so does anyone know what houses are likely to still have informal rush?

Thanks!

Not all the houses are eligible for informal recruitment; it depends on how many sisters a house has compared to everyone else. In general, the best way to be seriously considered is if a current sister vouches for you to the girl in charge of recruitment for her house, because there's no set schedule or system like in the spring. It's much more chill, you'll be invited to events with current sisters and given the chance to get to know them. It's possible to be offered a bid from more than one house, but you can obviously only accept one.

I assume you couldn't see yourself in one of the two houses because you did not feel confirtable with the girls there. Now that you know more people in each house and see where your friends ended up and how they feel about the houses, I'd think you know where you want to be. If you're meant yo be there, you probably have friends there who will vouch for you. However, if you are just trying to get into a "top" house for no good reason, then you'll probably end up disappointed again...
As someone already said, fall recruitment depends on how many spots each house has open due to seniors who left, girls who deactivated, etc. not all houses do Fall rush.

I found one house that I really loved, I could see myself being friends with the girls I talked to and when I walked into it, it just felt completely right to me and I was really happy. This isn't one of the Core Four or anything but they cut me before the last round. The two houses I had left I just couldn't see myself fitting in, I couldn't really picture myself being friends with those girls, etc.
The problem for fall rush is that I don't have any friends that are in the house that I loved! Most of my friends didn't join sororities and of those that rushed with me, none of them ended up at the house I loved.
Is there any way to still get into that house through fall rush without really knowing anyone in the house? Or is my best bet just to try again next spring rush?
I also liked another house which one of my close friends joined, and she gave my name to recruitment. I did like this one and have friends there, but I liked the other one a lot more. Is it better to just do fall rush for the second house since I already can be vouched for, or take my chances at spring rush again to get into the first house?
I don't want to be left burned in neither house if I rush in the spring again, but if I have a chance of getting in the first house I would definitely take that over the second one.

Very, very slim chance. One, they cut you once already, so they didn't see you fitting in with them. Two, informal really only works if you already know sisters in the house. There are only a very few open spots for fall, if any, and those are going to girls they already have on their radar. Three, no guarantee they are taking anyone at all. As for spring, under the present circumstances, your chances will not be any better. This may sound harsh but it is the reality. It is a long shot, but you could try reaching out to the house you are in love with to see if they are doing informal and telling them you are interested. If that doesn't work out for you, then you will be happier if you can move on and find your home where they want you too. Your best shot is the house where you already have friends who will support your getting a bid. Good luck

The thing is... you talked to 5 girls maybe. They know everyone in the house. If they invited you to pref they thought you would be a good fit. You have to trust the process. Unless you know someone who specifically said they want to help you out you have exactly .0000001 chance. Try emailing the recruitment chairs. You can always rush as a sophomore, it's really not so bad lots do it!!
