how hard is it to get into top ten?
by: frat2017As a sophomore planning to rush, I want to know the overall gist of how tough it get a bid from one of the top tier houses. I don't really care about prestige that much, but I also don't want to get into a frat that doesn't have much going on. Also how bad does the hazing get?

To be honest, it just depends how you are. Like AD, sig chi, and sig phi are tough to get a bid then there is a little drop off. After like Chi Phi, Sig Nu, and Lambda there is a big drop off so if you are looking for a relatively easier bids look below there. How I recommend it is choosing like one reach house, one upper house (like 4-9) and then a couple backups like Fiji or Phi Sig.
Hope this helps

Here are some tips that also apply to rush in general:
-Make a few close friends in the house you want to join and make sure that you don't piss any of the brothers off.
-Handle your booze. You don't want to be the guy to throw up on a brother or be the guy who the brothers have to take to the hospital.
-Go out on weekends and meet people, find out when open parties and rush events are and go to them.
Hazing ranges from house to house. At most houses its an annoyance at most, if you're a good fit for the house it won't be too miserable because you'll actually want to join. Some houses do have pretty rough hazing, but even at the hardest hazing fraternities its not gonna come close to a state school level or like that stuff in the news about penn state.
Also, don't ask a brother directly about hazing, it's a bad look for you and you're not going to get a straight answer.

that makes no sense bro. the prestige is relatively useful proxy for how much the frat has going on so maybe you care about prestige it's ok buddy
