how to rush for core four

Hi everyone. I'm happy to be attending Cornell this fall and want to be in a sorority. Checking around the internet, I see stuff about Core 4 being the top sororities (Delta Gamma, Alpha Phi, Kappa Alpha Theta and Kappa Kappa Gamma).
Do you have to know ppl to get in or is it a matter of looks or how rich you are? Are there events before recruitment to meet the actives? What is a good back-up group to Core Four??
I'm hoping to go Core Four so any help is greatly appreciated!!

I'm in one of the core four listed above. And honestly before rush I had no idea about the core four, I just went with what sorority I felt the most comfortable in at the last round (preference round). Some girls have a set idea in their head about what sorority they want to be in before rush even starts. There aren't any events to meet active members. And at least for my sorority, we don't "dirty rush" or look at potential members before hand. For mine, finances and who you know doesn't matter at all, but looks do. I've heard that Others research potential members to find out how much money their family has. And they'll ask you things like"where does your family vacation?" To secretly find out how much $$ you have. Just base it on where you feel the most comfortable. Good luck!

i dont understand why getting into a core 4 house has such a stigma. Not every single girl has a connection going into rush, is a legacy, or is rich. There's tons of girls in core 4 houses simply because they had confidence during rush and weren't vying for "core 4" the entire time. its a mutual selection process - don't forget that.

"Go where you feel comfortable", "money, connections don't matter", "....but looks DO matter".
Is that a convoluted response or what?!
Admit that getting into core 4 is a target for 90% of pnms because they want the best/most highly sought out chapters. For the few girls who don't care AND are loaded and chill, they will end up core 4 without trying. A few core 4 slots go to non-loaded girls who happen to be chill & hot.
Yeah, core 4 is at the top of the pecking order. Truth is what it is.
