how to rush for core four

Hi everyone. I'm happy to be attending Cornell this fall and want to be in a sorority. Checking around the internet, I see stuff about Core 4 being the top sororities (Delta Gamma, Alpha Phi, Kappa Alpha Theta and Kappa Kappa Gamma).
Do you have to know ppl to get in or is it a matter of looks or how rich you are? Are there events before recruitment to meet the actives? What is a good back-up group to Core Four??
I'm hoping to go Core Four so any help is greatly appreciated!!

I go to cornell and I've never heard of the core four? It sounds like an emo rock band. If they are an alternative music group or any other organization similar to this, what are some good songs they play? Also how hard are try outs/ did you have to be in high school band to be in Core Four. Thank you

“Go all the way down to Pi Phi”???!!!! What the heck does that mean. As much as I love DG, Pi Phi was honestly probably the number one house when I was at Cornell, then DG, then AEPhi, then Kappa. Those were the Core Four. Alpha Phi was virtually nonexistent and almost closed due to low membership. The year I rushed they had sisters from Brandeis doing their rush!!! So they only picked up the pledges that didn’t get bids at any of their three chosen houses and had to “scramble” (take an open spot remaining after the dust settles of rushees pref lists vs. the houses pref list). I remember my friend in Alpha Delt, who was a year older that I knew from home, congratulating me on pledging DG and telling me that getting into DG or PiPhi at Cornell was “harder than getting into Harvard.” Once I saw the other side of rush, I often questioned how I ever got in LOL. He was right!!!

The truth is there are a lot of cool girls in core 4, there are even more cool girls outside of core 4. Hell, there are some awesome girls who aren't even in a sorority. If you are so focused on being in a top sorority just because of reputation, there is a major problem there.

Get to know Core 4 girls in the Fall.
They do want wealthy/chill/stylish girls but do have a rare spot or two for a middle class girls who are super chill/hot. If you're overly anxious during rush, it will show. They don't want hangers on and girls are trying to reach up.
If you were one of the cool kids in high school, don't be surprised if that only lands you in a bottom house. Pretty tough getting into Core 4, being honest.

Aaand that right there is why you don't want to be in core 4. Who wants to try to make lasting friendships, and live with, girls who want "wealthy/stylish" girls but have "a rare spot or two for middle class girls"...just pathetic And PLEASE don't comment "she must have been cut". Lololol

Guess what?
The frats determine sorority rankings. The rich, boarding school, good looking guys join certain frats and the sororities those frats like are considered "top".
