tridelt or adpi
by: HelpI know it's early in rush but I need a general consensus about tridelt and adpi. I had a great time in both houses, different but awesome! I'm a classic southern girl and I think I'd fit in well at both houses! I am very focused on my school work and I grew up in a religious family, while religion is not a huge part of my life, I do my best to go to church every Sunday. That being said, I like to go out but within reason (I'd like to end my four years at usc without any citations). I love adpi's class and I think I'd fit in well in that atmosphere but I don't like the exclusivity within the house between just one fraternity and no other friends outside the house (or so I've read). I also believe id have a great time in ddd because I definitely want that college fun experience between going out, mixing, and having friends in other houses. I know this isn't too much info (don't want to give myself away) but from what I've said id LOVE any advice you're willing to give me. I am well aware that rush is supposed to give me a real taste of each house but I want to know what I'm getting myself into. Thank you so much!

from everything I've heard, a lot of things can change before rush is over, and setting your sights on only one or two is not the way to go.
I liked tri delt, but the adpis I talked to were flat out fake to me. One of them couldn't keep eye contact with me because she kept looking around like she was looking for an escape from me! I heard similar stories from other girls too, so I'm glad to hear that you liked th, must mean they are not all like that.
Don't count your chickens, sweetie!!

Like the girl above said, don't put all your eggs into two baskets. You could love a house one round and then not like it at all the next round. Some girls don't fall in love with a house until round 3. Be sure to keep an open mind. Also when you start getting to rounds 3 and 4, pay attention to how you get along with the girls that are outside the house with you-- they'll be the ones in your pledge class and the ones you'll spend the majority of your time with and become best friends with

it is very insulting to the rest of the chapters when you set your mind on one or two chapters. ESPECIALLY since you don’t even know if you got invited back to those two houses yet. You are basing your decision off of ONE conversation and the stereotypes you have heard on here and elsewhere...DDD is probably the worst chapter to be in literally every girl wants to drop but stays so they can say they are in it.

Thank you for insight and I will try my best to keep an open mind! I am swaying toward adpi but obviously that is never guaranteed. Would you rather be in adpi or someplace like kd (also see myself there). Just trying to gauge how these houses are outside of all the rush fakeness. If I pledged adpi would I still be able to go out or mix at all?

It's not exactly your choice where you end up... The sororities choose you, you don't choose them. And I say this because I put one particular sorority on the bottom of my list every round, and kept getting called back. I didn't wanna be there, but the girls there were so sweet for really wanting me back that much.

After round 1, my 2 favs. are also ADPi, but I also loved XO equally. I will be devastated if they both drop me. So, I'm going to keep my options open and I suggest you do too. I've heard bad things about the mean girl rep. of DDD and like the person above said, that girls all want to drop after they pledge.

I know that you felt comfortable with these two houses, but you shouldn't be getting your heart set on these two houses because you say you think you see yourself fitting in there. Recruitment is a time where you go through and find the place that will end up being the best fit for you. Even if you did like these houses in the first round, they may drop you or you might end up hating them in the next rounds. Keep an open mind, you may be surprised where you find yourself in the end!

Fist of all, you totally didn't read the posts above - stop.
Second, I'd read a couple above about how some people were treated at one of those.
But then stop. You'll get dropped by everyone else when those two drop you and you cry, and then you will be sorority-less.
