by: mballaI know a lot of people who are really cool but, stress in rush. especially people that are northerners. I know its tough to give bids to Northerners but, they come trying to start a new life and they don't get the same advantages as southerners. and not get bids when there trying to find a group of friends.

only girls get so worked up about top tier. As long as you end up in a house in the village other than beta or phi sig, top tier doesnt make nearly as big a difference as you think it does. if you have trouble having fun or getting laid in any of those houses, thats more on you because all those groups have tight kids. and yeah northerners count your blessings getting a bid here is no that hard even if you know nobody.

It is it's own category. a few spots in the top fraternities if you are from close in va (Arlington, Alexandria, McLean or a little further out but from a good prep school), dc, or md. More spots for them and the boonies or places that call themselves "nova" if you're looking middle or bottom tier.

Never heard the term "boonies" used before. The area where I live is definitely referred to as nova. Are sororities just as particular in regards to living in the so called "boonies". I'm assuming it's better than living in New Jersey or Ohio at the very least?

id say its the opposite for sororities. used to be certain sororities didn't take anyone from the north (literally) but in the last 7-10 years its changed, all the sororities take yankees. other sec schools are not as open as we are.
for fraterniies, it is way harder if you aren't from the south. the "top" fraternities will take a few guys from DMV, but outside of that you don't see it. the middle tier (pi kapp, ato, chi psi, pike) will take a lot more from outside of the south.
