Recs aren't as big of a deal at usc as some other schools. They won't help or hurt you too much. So do whatever you like!

Above has it right. don't go overboard, this isn't bama, and having 50 recs from people you've clearly never met might actually hurt. have a few if you actually know some alumna, but recs are not as important at USC - you get the chance to stand out in your own!!!!!

get them, but if a chapter really likes you, then they will bid you without one, Or they will contact an alum in your hometown to see if they can give you one.
