what happened to theta

No, they didn't get kicked off, they were de-established by their nationals because their membership was too low to sustain. Came on in 1990 and never really made it after 10 years of trying. It was harder for new sorority chapters to establish back then because sorority recruitment didn't use RFM like now. The chances for a new chapter are much better now with RFM.

This is why cuts are so heavy in the early rounds. It's better for the sororities to go ahead and cut pnm's earlier in the process when they KNOW they aren't going to bid them, rather than later, so those pnm's can move ahead with houses that actually are interested in them. RFM is also how pnm's are guaranteed a bid if they rank both their pref houses.

Release Figure Methodology. It is the system that determines the numbers of the pnm's going back to the different chapters at every round. It requires the chapters to not over-invite from round to round so as to release the ones they know they are not going to carry to pref, while also requiring the pnm's to go to as many sororities as their schedules allow so they can give the sororities that want them every possible chance. Before RFM it was more of a free for all and a lot of pnm's got cut completely from rush before the pref round, or got to the pref round and then got completely dropped anyway, while the newer and smaller chapters struggled to get enough members to really get established. So much better now.
