i'm puzzled

I always see the word "Scholarship" getting thrown around on sorority websites and my question is: Do you actually receive money for having a high gpa in your chapter?
What chapters actually do this? If you do receive money, does it go towards your dues? If it's possible to "win" (in that even a thing? or awarded.) this scholarship, is it a one time thing? Please fill me in! I hope this makes sense.

Some sororities provide incentives and rewards for girls to strive for high academic achievement. For example, my sorority gave girls who received a 3.75 GPA or higher for the fall semester gift cards to Victoria's Secret. We also have tabs at Starbucks and such to make studying a little less painful. Having said this, each sorority will discuss these type things in the "scholarship" round. There are larger monetary scholarships available, but they are usually awarded through nationals and often go to older members. Hope this helped! Look forward to meeting you!
