What happened to KD?

by: ElderAlum

I don’t have daughters but some friends do and they’re going through rush. I was there in the late 90s and KD was on top. They called themselves “Kaydee Ladies” and everyone wanted KD and Adpi, DDD, ZTA. From what girls going through have told us oldies, KD is no longer on top. What happened over the years? I wasn’t Greek nor were most of my friends so we are curious.

Zeta is nothing special.

They aren’t bad but are middle tier now. They didn’t do as good of a job of embracing “diversity” (not literal diversity but girls from other places, being social with other houses etc) and fell behind, which made them less desirable. Less desirable to top recruits brings you down over time

Thank you for the kind response! We were surprised at all the change but happens over time. Embracing diversity applies to all areas of our lives. Thank you and happy rush week to all!

They just haven’t recruited well in recent years and they have some girls who were blackballed from other sororities for various reasons

They are very cliquey with their in state girls and for whatever reason have the most random mix of personalities with their out of state girls. Overall they have an odd vibe and are very much a “pick me” kind of group. Some of them are nice but today they are more comparable to xo and kappa than they are to the top tier houses.

axo has surged and has become a top house at usc while kd keeps slipping. xo is even surpassing kd because they have a good rep with frats and a more genuine sisterhood than kd seems to have.
