Maryland is also sometimes considered a Southern State and is below the Mason-Dixon Line.

1) mo is not southern. it just isn't. I get the "parts of it" but those parts are country, not southern.
2) yes you can get into a top tier from va (most parts). "South" or not argument aside, it's not like its ohio or mass or nj. sae, ka, snu all have folks from va...
3) to the idiot a few posts above, someone could do A LOT worse thank pi kapp, if that what you're insinuating. but pi kapp does have guys from the wealthy dc va suburbs.

Is being from Loudoun County bad if I went to Briar Woods (public) high school? I am very wealthy and live in a wealthy neighborhood

ashburn isn't really a desirable part of VA but making yourself identifiable as posting on this website isn't really desirable either. good luck.

being from the south has nothing to do with affluence. some of the wealthiest parts of the country are in nj, mass, and ohio…i’m from a small wealthy town in new jersey where some of the richest people in the country live(including celebrities) so to try and act like you’re better than the rest of the country because of your geographical location is just ignorant. And, I’m in a "top tier” sorority so to say that you can’t get into a good sorority if you aren’t southern is also stupid.

If you're of affluence and carry yourself well Sigma Chi and Kappa Sig probably wont mind. I wouldn't try for KA, Sigma Nu or SAE though.

Why are you arguing this? States don't determine a person's wealth. Your region or high school within that state can definitely be an insight to how affluent you are. But every state has millionaires and people making minimum wage.

Yes Virginia is a southern state...not only is it below the Mason Dixon but it does have people who have that warm hospitable, laid-back personality the south is famous for. Also, UVa is a super preppy-southern school and so is Washington and Lee.
