Im attending USC next year as a transfer student from a Washington school. I know that recruitment is really competitive and I am super nervous because A.) Im from the northwest and B.) I am not a legacy or anything. Is there any chance of me getting in and does anyone have any advice about this whole thing?

Of course there's a chance of you getting in. There are girls from different areas of the country in every sorority here. Being a legacy doesn't guarantee you a bid, so don't worry about that. Do get letters of rec. for every chapter if you can. Also, get some nice clothes that are maybe a little more conservative than you would normally wear. Finally, just be yourself. You'll know where you fit in.

Should I get letters for all of them?

Yes, def. get letters of rec. for all chapters here. They don't guarantee you a bid anywhere, but are a nice introduction for you to the chapter members before rush. Rush is very competitive here so also work on your conversation skills. We want to find out about the real you, not just what your major is...blah, blah, blah. :)

You don't necessarily need letters, but they help a bit. My sorority automatically passes legacies and girls with recs on to the second round, but after that, you're on you're own. Being from the northwest shouldn't really impact things, some sororities have a reputation of being traditionally "southern", but even so you'll end up in the sorority that you're supposed to.

That just sums up how you will be treated when you come here they may not all say it, but they are still thinking it. So you might want to revisit your decision.

Don't let that discourage you. There are girls from everywhere in all the sororities here. There are certain sororities that are more Southern than others, but you probably wouldn't want to be in them anyway. I'm from the north and found my sorority home here, and yes, it was in one that is considered top tier. Good Luck!

I've never been called a Yankee since I've been here. No one cares about that here. Just rush. Don't let anyone sway your opinion. Be confident and outgoing, and you will get a bid anywhere. That's it.
