Quit Sorority already

by: dna

Have any of you quit your sorority already? I am seriously thinking about it. I got caught up in the bid day hype, but don't think I really click at this one.
Anyone else feel same way??

Yes I am. I was kinda turned off by all the bid day drinking and craziness and I’m feeling like this sorority isn’t really the way the presented themself to be during recruitment. I’m sticking with it a little long but tbh i think I’m gonna end up dropping out

Zeta is the worst so far for drops. can't get a consistent reason except for dramarama. sad.

if you decide you wanna drop, do so before initiation, so next year you can rush again if you choose to do so and go with a house you feel like you’ll fit better in. this also gives u a chance to learn more about how the houses actually are

Post bid day is similar to post Christmas. It’s a let down. It’s normal. Give yourself more time getting to know the sorority. Go to the house as often as you can. Eat there. Put yourself out there. Introduce yourself to members. Ask pledge sisters to grab a coffee with you, or study together, or walk to the house together. You have to make an effort. If after all that you are still not feeling it, resign before you are initiated. You would then be eligible to rush again next fall. Once you are initiated, that’s it.

So glad to see this thread! I quit yesterday. I just felt like this was a step backwards. Very high school 2.0. I left that petty stuff behind & have not intention of reliving it again for 4 years in college. Not even sure I will rush again, but hopefully some of the other houses are better. This was just not for me. I am so disappointed!!

Sounds like you definitely did what was best for you. I don’t understand why some people want to continue the high school drama all through college but some people can’t live without it

I gave it a chance too. I wanted it to work, trust me, I spent 11 days looking for the fit only to end up with girls who seemingly can't get past HS. Soooooooo dissappointed!

I totally gave them a chance, i went to the house and attended every event and made a big effort to talk to people but none of the sisters seemed interested. One of the sisters who was supposed to be my buddy for the week was downright rude to me. These are all the reasons i dropped.
