The truth that no one speaks about
by: YeahIf you want one sorority more than the other, you have to suicide. If the other one puts you higher on their bid list than the one you want (and if it’s a worse sorority they probably will) you will get that one no matter how you rank the two that you prefer. If you suicide, there’s a chance you won’t be in a sorority but also you have a much higher chance at getting the sorority you want. Pi chis dont tell you this bc they want to give low tier sororities a chance at getting better girls and basically rope girls who don’t want them into joining. Suiciding is the way to go and I regret not suiciding so so bad.

People literally don’t know how it works. Suiciding barely helps your chances of getting the one you want more it just guarantees you won’t get the other house. Which is why so many times girls end up w out a bid.
If you are literally desperate for one of the two and literally HATE the other - do it.
I’m seeing a lot of Idk who I want maybe I should suicide - that LITERALLY is the dumbest reason, actually it’s literally just not a reason to suicide. If you can’t decide between two, go w your gut and put that one first (or pick out of a hat) and you’re guaranteed a bid to one of the two you “can’t decide” over.
Top tier only has so many bids, ladies. If you suicide you’re still competing for the most desired houses with girls who have multiple top tier options. Risk it and say you’ll try again next year, sure, but you’re a sophomore (not terrible on its own but), the girl who suicided, and the girl those houses, that you felt like were the only ones good enough for you, didn’t have as high last year.

If you suicide, you may not get your pick. If you do suicide, you are also eligible for COB (that’s where any sorority that has open spots could call you with a bid on Bid Day) or you could do Spring Rush. Mid-tier and even some top sororities do Spring Rush every January.
If you don’t get your preferred choice, you are stuck without any options except drop the sorority who gives you a bid and wait until next year’s Fall rush. The PiChis won’t tell you this, but it is true. Ask the adult Panhel advisors

This isn't true, suiciding doesn't give you a better chance, the chance is the same regardless. you either are on their list and would have gone there in the first place, or not on their list and wouldn't have. Unless you have a serious reason and wouldn't give the other sorority a shot, don't suicide. I suicided because Axid was coming to campus and that was a gauranteed open option if i didn't get a bid. The nerves knowing if you got a bid or not isn't worth it tbh. Give the other sorority a chance unless you aren't willing to be a good sport -in that case you would probably be kicked out anyway.

This post is all true up until the part “if you suicide, you can COB or rush next year”. This is how it works, if you suicide, you can do COB (which happens on or immediately after Bid Day) or you can do Spring Rush. For the past 3 years, some really good houses did Spring Rush. What girls do you think are going through Rush in Spring??? Freshmen who dropped or suicided and somehow didn’t match.
If you DON’T suicide and don’t like your bid, you will have to wait until next fall when you’re a sophomore. Odds aren’t as good for you then

a lot of bad advice on here to the point where i'm wondering if yall are trolling the pnms. i've never seen this kind of positive attitude towards suiciding.
tf, literally only suicide if you absolutely HATE the one of your options. it barely helps your chances with the other house, but you WILL still be able to snap, COB, spring rush, or rush next year - HOWEVER the house(s) you "wanted" might still NOT WANT YOU!!!!
if you can live with both of your options, list the one you lean more towards first for a better chance of getting it. if you don't and you end up in the other one, it is literally bc they had you higher and like you more. if you're cool with that, awesome, and if it turns out it's not the right place for you, just DROP BEFORE INITIATION and you can rush again next year (but you won't have a blank slate).

DO NOT SUICIDE
Lets say you have two houses, A and B, for pref. You like A house better than B house. Every sorority has a bid list and everyone at pref is somewhere on that list, you could be 1 or 200. For the sake of this example lets say they can only take 100 girls. If you are number 100 on A house's list and you put A house first for pref, you will get A house. Maybe you were number 20 on B houses list, but because you put them second for pref and you were in A houses top 100 you will still get A house!!
If you were number 120 on A houses list and 20 girls in A houses top 100 choose the other sorority they prefed, you will move up to spot 100 on A houses list and still get A house! Every single girl in B house could want you more than any other PNM but as long as you are in the top 100 of A houses bid list, and you put A house down first for pref, you will get A house.
However, if you are 120 on A houses list and only 1 girl in A houses top 100 chooses the other sorority they prefed, you would only move up to number 119 and would get the bid from B house because you were not in A houses top 100 and you were in B houses top 100.
If you aren't in the top 100 for either houses lists and its guaranteed bidding, I assume whatever house has you listed higher is forced to take you.
#9by: Are you well
This is actually the worst advice I’ve ever heard.
If you are on the bid list for Both of your sororities, regardless of your position, as long as you are ABOVE the cutoff line, you will get the sorority you choose.
If you are on NEITHER bid list of your sororities, but have 2 and you choose not to suicide (you rank both like normal), you get the one you choose first - since you are guaranteed a bid at our school.
If you are on the bid list of sorority A, and not on the list of sorority B, and you rank B above A, you get A. Regardless of your ranking. You only get the one you are on the list of. (sorority A).
If you are on the list for sorority A, and not on the list for sorority B, and you suicide for sorority B, you do not receive a bid and you will
Not go to bid day.

Also, if you don’t suicide, you will definitely match with the lower sorority first. That’s just how it works. You will be lower on the top house’s list than you are on the lower house’s list, so you’ll match with the lower house first. And then you don’t have options until the next Fall.
If you could be happy with either option, you don’t have to suicide. But if you know you wouldn’t be happy with one, the suicide
