No one cares if you rush or not you’re probably going to get dropped from all your top houses anyways

I’m wondering that too and am probably going to wait until next year. Too many unknowns this year and way too many restrictions that i don’t think will allow the full sorority experience this year

Rush is still happening, functions will probably all be held at mostly/completely outdoor venues at least for fall

By: u should rush

You should definitely still rush this year! Being part of a sorority is so much more than functions and stuff, it’s having a community on campus with people you can identify with and relate to and makes a home away from home for you at USC. Even though rush and functions may look a bit different this fall, every chapter is working very hard to make everything happen, just with a few precautions to ensure safety!

Ok but I pay $$$ for functions, philanthropy, leadership opportunities...not friends. So if I put $$$ in and don’t get the things I’m paying for...yeah.

functions and philanthropy and all that are still going to be happening, just with the occupancy and distancing guidelines

even if functions and philanthropy are happening you cannot write off that to follow the social distancing guidelines there is no way 300+ girls in a sorority will be allowed to attend a semi or fall philanthropy event. so yeah functions will be drastically different and probably not as fun sadly

There’s still going to be functions but the venues will be different (i.e. more outdoor spaces). They won’t say only some sisters can go, they’ll have to accommodate all sisters and their dates by making sure the venue is big and spread out enough

Recruitment and Greek life as a whole will for sure be very different in the fall- it’s unsure if we will have functions or not. That being said I would till wya you should rush. USC is huge and rush will make it a lot easier to meet people. Since a lot of classes are being put online and dorms are being spread out, rushing might be one of the easiest and only ways to meet people. I would strongly recommend even though it may be different this year

I can totally understand being on the fence for rushing but this comment sums it up^ yeah the way sororities usually run may be different but with all the social distancing precautions put in place it may be good to have a little group on campus since making friends will probably be a little tougher this year.

With this attitude probably not. Sororities are not going to charge you for functions if they don’t happen. Being in Greek life is about finding your place in college, and if we’re being honest... it will probably be much easier to get in your first choice this year, with less girls going through recruitment and the chance that their might even be a few rounds online.

This is not the way it works. Less girls going through means smaller quotas. Quota is number of girls going to Pref divided by the number of chapters. Doesn't help your chances at getting your first choice. At all.

I’m very anti negative Nancy stuff and hope that things will be able to happen but it’s a really good point that why should girls pay full sorority dues if the reality is that they won’t be getting the full experience by no fault of their own, their sorority’s, the school’s, etc. - question is are any sororities considering or offering discounted or reflective dues for the upcoming year as a result?

By: No
by: Hopefully

I’m assuming if that’s the case and if sororities don’t lower their dues they are gonna have PC 20 dropping like flies and prob a good amount of older members.
