spring recruitment
by: sorority22I am sophomore at Carolina who did formal recruitment this year. I had two houses that prefed me. Ultimately, I decided to do an intentional single preference on a certain sorority and they did offer me a bid. Everything seemed to have worked out, however, looking back I made the decision feeling a bit pressured from friends that were active members in the sorority and now I feel it is not the right fit for me at all. I do enjoy being apart of a sisterhood so I'm thinking I may need to drop but can anyone tell me if I would be eligible to rush in the Spring? I am not initiated yet just a new member but would not want to go through fall recruitment all over again since I am trying to avoid that process twice.

National Panhellenic rule is that you're bound to a bid for one year, even if you drop. I think (and someone tell me if I'm wrong) the only exception would be if you transferred to another school after this semester. In that case, you could do spring at that school, but not on this campus. The one year rule would apply. Keep in mind that it's usually pretty hard to get a bid from another sorority if you've depledged one on the same campus. If you want to be Greek at USC, really think hard about dropping. This might be your only chance to be Greek here. I'm just telling you this so you can make an informed decision.
