i need advice :(
by: UnsureI got into the sorority I really didn't want to be in.. It feels like I had zero say in the process at all, and I don't know what to do. I don't want to drop because then I can't rush again until next fall, but I honestly feel like I don't fit in with these girls at all. Any advice?

Unsure,
Sisterhood is a gift. These girls wanted you to be their sister. The others did not. Please don't throw away what you were given. Many girls received no bid at all and would trade places with you in a heartbeat. At least give it a fair chance and get to know your pledge sisters. After all, they will be the ones you will mainly hang out with for the next 4 years. I wish the best for you.

The only reason I posted here is because this is the only place I could anon. I am in no way letting the rankings or whatever on this site sway me. I could care less about tiers and all that. It's just the fact that almost every girl I have talked to was really awkward. I'm planning on giving it a chance, and waiting two or three weeks to see if I change my mind. But it's hard because I don't feel at home in the house, I feel like I don't fit in at all with these girls. I wish I knew reasons why I got dropped because I know it's not looks (I'm not tooting my own horn) and I'm a genuinely nice girl. I am involved in a lot of activities, and I have a high GPA. It just didn't make sense to me where I got placed. I don't knooooww..

You've only been a new member for 2 days now and don't really know much more about your sorority than what people have told you. I never thought I would fit in with my sorority when I first joined and even considered dropping but after a few weeks I found my niche and couldn't be any happier. These girls wanted you to be sister and thats a great feeling. Give it a try before you make a decision on dropping! Theres so much more to houses than what is on the surface.

You are not the only girl who feels this way and it's a good thing you posted this because it helps others who feel the same way as you. It's also a good reminder for the members to reach out to the pledges and make them feel loved and at home. Members, please remember to check on your pledges and know all their names as quickly as possible. Thank you and God bless you all!

Wow I was really naive about this sorority stuff at USC. I saw - no rec letters required on the website- I had only 2 instead 1 or 2 for every house. I remember seeing girls especially the moms at orientation trying so hard to talk to the girls and the house mom to name drop. Now I know why the houses have different semester rates. The expensive ones are the ones that are slammed in the rankings. My sorority person called yesterday to see if I wanted to do something. Sure, but then she said she'd call back. Awkward.

the nj thing could have had an effect with adpi. all of the other sororities have come around to yankees (it was NOT like this when my older sister rushed - adpi and kd would NOT take girls from north of the mason dixon, and only one or two from the dc area) including some great ones, but i'm not sure if there are a ton of nj girls in adpi. doesn't mean they are bad or snobby or that you aren't good enough though - just the way it is!
axo and zta are top tier sororities and they have plenty of yankees

There were girls already at the party yesterday & dorm talking about giving it a chance, but...
I know all the girls can't be awkward, but I am having a hard time hoping for a connection that I never felt. The girls didn't seem to really be into it. They need to pick better reps. My friends at 2 other schools can't wait to rush in the spring and they hope to get a bid for this house. I seem nuts to them.
