Certain sororities are required to carry legacy’s to philanthropy round, and if they’re dropped before then are required a letter explaining why. However, if you’re a legacy that they really want to drop that’s not to say you’re garuanteed a bid even if you make it or the philanthropy round.
Basically being a legacy helps for all sororities, but only a few is it going to push you further in rounds for, and it does NOT garuantee you a bid with that sorority.

But in most cases it doesn’t guarantee you anything except for one invite back. There are SO many legacies coming through these days that a house could literally have an entire new member class full of legacies if they had to give a bid to every one. That doesn’t happen.

As a courtesy, the PNM gets an extra round for the chapter to get to know them better, but if they are not a good fit (or if there are other PNMs the chapter prefers more), they won't be invited back after that.
