recs
by: ConfusedCan someone pls explain how the recs work? I thought recs had to be from graduated members but I’m getting confused from stuff this website is saying. Can your recs be from current members?

If u know someone who is currently in a chapter you’re trying to rush, each sorority treats these active’s recommendations differently. Some sororities have a list of girls that are given extra consideration during rush because they know girls in the sorority. Other sororities have forms you fill out for girls you know before rush. It’s not the same as your recs from your aunt or grandma. It means a lot more coming from someone who is currently in a sorority than someone who was in it 20 years ago.

@Confused, do not give that ignorant comment above any consideration. The actives don't write recs on pnm's because they are the ones meeting you in person during recruitment, discussing you, and voting on you. They get their say during recruitment. Recommendations are written by alumnae (don't need to be from that chapter) and each sorority has a form on their national site that the rec writer uses. Some sororities also allow a rec to be written by an active at different chapter from where you are rushing; these sororities will have this information on their national sites. Give your rec writers your resume and they should do the rest. Follow up with them to make sure they did it and got it in and then send them a thank you note. If your rec writers don't know you well then try to schedule coffee or a quick in-person with them so they can add their own positive comments.
