graduate student status

by: grad student?

I feel like I would not be able to rush as a non-undergraduate student, but is it possible for someone with graduate student status (that did not pledge a sorority as an undergraduate) to rush/pledge a sorority?

No, sororities may only pledge undergrads. These are national rules.

They don't offer membership to graduate students, but there are lots of national organizations that may offer a kind of sisterhood that may be service based or social based that are non collegiate. Beta Sigma Pi is an example of a national non-collegiate "sorority"

Some sororities accept Alumnae Initiates. You can see who does and find one that matches your interests, find an Alumnae Chapter to sponsor you, and petition for Alumna Initiation.

Can you explain that option a little more? Thank you!

Well, alumna initiation is not really the option for someone who missed joining during school and wants a shot at college sorority life. You would belong to the local alumnae chapter, not a chapter at a school, which is not at all like the college sorority experience. Alumnae chapters have some social functions and financially support the national sorority, its philanthropy, and local chapters as they need, and are more like Junior League or a garden club or any number of local philanthropy organizations. Alumnae initiation is really a way of thanking and honoring women who already have a strong connection and history of service or support to the sorority, like a long-serving house mother, or a member's mom who was involved and supportive above and beyond, a woman who contributes substantial funding, or even a school administrator who was instrumental in a chapter's success. Hope this helps.

Not Actually is correct in that Alumnae Initiation will not replace missed opportunity of college sorority life and explained the rest well. You become a member of the alumnae chapter not the collegiate chapter. But could be an option.

Would you really want to be in a pledge class with a bunch of freshmen and have socials and tailgates with younger frat boys? The seniors are not interested anymore and the juniors all have their established friend groups. How would you fit in? Do you understand the time requirement of being a sorority member, especially as a pledge? Not to mention the financial requirement? Do you understand the time and financial requirement of graduate school?
