advice for sorority rush

People say the cheesy "be yourself" advice because it works. And it depends on what kind of advice you're looking for. My best general piece of advice is to do a little research on all of them. Find what philanthropy speaks to you the most, etc. Its important that you don't go over board though. Going into recruitment with only one house in mind can be dangerous and could lead to you getting dropped from the process. Also, you have to visit every house anyway. Random Tips: Make sure you're respectful to every girl you talk to and NEVER talk badly about another house...people talk and you could get dropped for being rude. Also, going to the bathroom during a party won't necessarily get you dropped. Stick to the suggested dress code, but be yourself, show YOUR style with hair earrings etc, NOT what you think they're looking for. Show up to your parties on time, easiest way to get dropped from the process is to miss a party.

Make AS MANY connections as possible with people in sororities. Reach out to people you know in them and let them know you’re rushing! Having connections will get you very far in rush. It only takes one girl in a sorority to get you dropped so make sure you are not in a fight/on really bad terms with anyone in the sorority. Have an open mind about each chapter—most people who join a sorority have such a positive experience regardless of if it was the sorority they wanted during rush. Make sure to showcase your talents (sports played in high school, clubs you were in, community service, mission trips, etc) but make sure you do not brag about things like your family’s money and boys.
