I am from out of state and am not close friends with anyone attending USC (currently or incoming.) I was wondering how difficult it is to make friends within your pledge class? For example, do groups of friends tend to join the same sororities, are the pledge classes very cliquey, etc. Thank you!

is this a joke? they're your sisters, they arent the mean girls in high school you didn't get along with, obviously you're going to make friends with them.

I don't think it's a joke at all. I was literally that girl last year and it wasn't as easy for me as it was others to make friends. They're my sisters and I love them, but I can't say I'm great friends with any of them yet. I noticed that a lot of girls did form cliques and so although I am friends with some of the girls in them, it's hard for me to become even better friends with them because of the clique. But I'm trying to become better friends with my sisters. Sisterhood is what brings us together but like any general friendship you've gotta try. That's my advice for this girl. Put yourself out there and just try to make friends. I can't promise it'll be easy, but it is worth it in the end.

Pledge classes are huge here at south carolina, normally 110+ girls. It's not hard to make friends so long as you put in the effort. Go to philanthropy and sisterhood events, chapter, and all the other events/programs your sorority will put on in the fall. If you go to all these things(no matter if they appeal to you or not) you'll for sure meet lots of girls in your pledge class and make friends. Also, find out which girls in your pledge class live in your dorm by walking around through the halls and seeing the door signs- reach out to them and ask them if they want to walk to the house, get food, go to chapter with you...etc. Everyone wants to make friends as a freshman
