rec letter importance
by: HHow much do the content of rec letters actually matter? Like obviously having them is important but do sororities take to heart what the letter actually says, or is it kind of like checking off a box that you put the effort to get/send them

No recs will ever get you a bid, but not having them can get you released from those houses; that is the most important thing to remember. We do read them, and if a really well-connected alumna writes one then we will pay extra attention, but otherwise they all kind of look alike and it is a box to check. But sometimes an alumna will indicate "do not recommend" and we do pay attention to that. Also, YOU don't send them in, the alumnae do. You will never see them.

Read the above. You need recs. Not having them will hurt you. But no rec will get you a bid. This is true EVERYWHERE. Same with being a legacy. A legacy can be released EVERYWHERE. Get your recs so you won't be at a disadvantage.
